Contact Detention Officer
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide armed escorts of inmates traveling to, during and from off-site medical visits within Philadelphia County.
- The secure custody of all inmates during medical appointments.
- Furnishing the necessary personnel to provide for the protection and safekeeping of those inmates.
- Secure custody always requires physical control of the inmate. The physical control of the inmates by the contractor shall be sufficient to prevent escape.
- Maintain constant control over, and direct visual observation of the inmate.
Qualifications and Skills:
- The contractor's employee shall be in good general health and able to perform job functions.
- Vision must be correctable to 20/30 in both eyes.
- The ability to hear conversational voice is required. Hearing corrected with use of a prescribed hearing device is permitted as long as certified by a PA/MD.
- Emotional and mental stability are essential. The services to be performed require the ability to tactfully deal with inmates, a keen sense of perception, mental alertness, and the ability to resolve crisis situations. Applicants may be required to work under trying conditions for extended periods of time.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of Age.
- High School Diploma, GED, or foreign equivalency (DD214 with honorable discharge will be acceptable)
- A minimum of 3 years Law enforcement, Military Police, or Armed Detention Officer experience with a Federal, State, or local municipality. Veterans welcome. DETENTION / CORRECTIONS EXPERIENCE ACCEPTED instead of LEO.
- Valid Carry permit, annual firearms qualification
- Act 235
FT & PT positions available, typically Monday through Friday.
