Asset Protection Advisor

The Asset Protection Advisor (APA) owns assigned Asset Protection and Security investigations from intake through documentation, recommendation, and closure, while operating within established review, escalation, and approval processes. The APA conducts investigations related to cash loss, merchandise loss, associate theft, and security incidents, partnering with store management, field leadership, law enforcement, and Asset Protection leadership to reduce risk and support safe store operations.

This role is accountable for developing investigative findings, identifying root causes, and preparing clear recommendations, while escalating complex or high-risk matters as appropriate and aligning final actions with required leadership review.

Principal Duties:
  • Own and conduct assigned asset protection investigations involving cash losses, deposit shortages, merchandise loss, associate theft, and other security incidents, escalating complex matters to senior Asset Protection personnel as appropriate.
  • Lead fact-gathering and documentation efforts using interviews, store reporting, surveillance systems, and investigative tools.
  • Review and analyze store reports, video surveillance, and operational data to support case development and root-cause analysis.
  • Conduct store visits to assess compliance, deliver coaching, and complete operational reviews focused on loss prevention and safety.
  • Partner with law enforcement on cases, including evidence preparation and case development.
  • Manage assigned Organized Retail Crime (ORC) case work by collecting information, documenting findings, coordinating with senior investigators, and supporting required review steps.
  • Own assigned robbery and major incident reviews, including video analysis, documentation, and escalation of findings through established review channels.
  • Prepare clear, accurate investigative summaries, findings, and recommended next steps in accordance with company standards and required review processes.
  • Partner with store management and Area Managers to reinforce asset protection standards and procedures.
  • Evaluate physical security measures (e.g., cameras, alarms, access points), document observations, and escalate recommendations to senior team members for review.
  • Coordinate implementation and training of merchandise protection strategies and theft-prevention tools at store level, ensuring alignment with approved standards.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all investigations and interactions.
Essential Functions:

  • Ability to travel and work varying schedules, including occasional weekends, as required
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business, or a related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of retail asset protection, loss prevention, or related experience
  • Basic knowledge of retail operations and loss prevention principles preferred
  • Exposure to store reporting systems or surveillance systems is a plus
  • Proficient computer skills, including report writing and case documentation
  • Strong interest in developing a career in Asset Protection or investigations
