THE POSITION
Are you ready to support individuals who are working hard to rebuild their lives and move forward? The Corrections Community Center Monitor position with the Department of Corrections offers a meaningful role that helps guide reentrants as they transition back into the community. In this position at the Scranton Community Corrections Center (CCC), you play an important part in maintaining safety, structure, and encouragement for those in the program.
DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports the daily operations of the Scranton Community Corrections Center by maintaining safety, structure, and accountability for reentrants. The role helps ensure a secure environment while assisting individuals in meeting program expectations. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:
- Safety Oversight:
Monitor reentrant behavior, maintain activity logs, conduct counts, and support center security measures - Search Procedures:
Conduct searches of reentrants, property, and living areas to prevent contraband and ensure compliance - Orientation Support:
Guide new reentrants through center rules, assignments, and expectations during intake - Accountability Checks:
Perform destination checks, document tests, and address behavior concerns as needed - Public Interaction:
Provide information to visitors, respond to concerns, and assist law enforcement contacts - Center Readiness:
Inspect facility areas for safety, cleanliness, and compliance to maintain an inspection-ready environment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $ 41,999.00 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be willing and able to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
- You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
- One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the military)
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
