SummaryUnder general supervision of the Supervisor, the Mechanical Technician performs inspection, maintenance, repair and installation of pumping and other mechanical and hydraulic equipment over segments of pipeline system, at the Marcus Hook PA facility.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:
- Inspection, maintenance, repair and installation of pumps, motors and other mechanical and hydraulic equipment within the Marcus Hook facility.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) duties and installation assignments; conduct periodic and emergency overhaul and reconditioning of centrifugal, reciprocating gear and other types of pumps, including dismantling and reassembling, inspecting, cleaning, measuring and aligning pumps and motors. Perform various seal replacements on pumps and compressors.
- Maintain diesel and gasoline engines, air compressors, valves, valve operators, fire pumps and similar equipment; service hydraulic hoses, rigs and loading arm facilities including all winches, cranes, pumps, cables, bearings and blocks; conduct relevant tests such as hose tests and make necessary adjustments per engineering guidance.
- Repair and mechanically install protective, alarm and other devices such as cooling systems, seal leak detectors, vibration monitors, tank gaugers, etc.; perform miscellaneous mechanical repairs to buildings; possess knowledge of rigging equipment for lifts; perform DOT pressure calibrations of trip and pressure relief valves and actuators.
- Subject to 24-hour emergency call out to restore operations of pipeline facilities system wide. Communicate with other technicians for assistance in effecting repairs when applicable.
- Meet Company requirements for progression through the technician step classification job family.
Must reside within 45 miles of reporting location. This position will require extended off‑hour duties at times.
RequirementsEducation and/ or experience, knowledge, skills & abilities:
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- 5–10 years’ rotating equipment experience, particularly in oil/gas, power generation, or petrochemical sectors.
- 5–10 years of hands‑on experience in overhaul and repair of rotating equipment and routine maintenance activities.
- Ability to read and work with mechanical blueprints, vendor drawings, specification data sheets, piping drawings, and P&.
- Proficiency with dial indicators, feeler gauges, micrometers, vernier calipers, and precision levels for alignment.
- Use and operation of all pertinent safety equipment when performing duties in potentially hazardous areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.).
- Workmanship consistent with industry standards, company work practices, applicable codes and/or engineering drawings and sketches.
- Computer literate with basic skills in Windows, MS Word, and Internet use.
- Ability to work alone and outdoors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor safely.
- Valid driver’s license for the state of residence and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Maintain all required OQ’s for this discipline as assigned for the position. OQ compliance is Energy Transfer Operator Qualification Plan (SOP’s – Standard Operating Procedures) which establishes the requirements and responsibilities for the qualification of individuals who perform Operator Qualification (OQ) Tasks at the pipeline facilities for which the operator/tech has responsibility.
