CNC Field Service Technician
This role installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs CNC metal cutting machines for customers throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. The position covers multi axis CNC machines, lathes, vertical and horizontal machining centers, and grinding machines, working hands on with both the mechanical and electrical sides of the equipment.
Schedule:
Full time. Primarily regional day travel with occasional overnight stays.
Compensation: $35 to $45 per hour, plus overtime.
What You'll Do:
The technician installs, commissions, aligns, calibrates, and tests CNC metal cutting machines at customer facilities, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, PLC, and CNC control related issues as they arise. Work includes servicing multi axis CNC machines, lathes, vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, and grinding machines, along with troubleshooting CNC controls on platforms such as FANUC, Mazak, Okamoto, or similar systems.
The role involves performing preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize customer downtime, providing on site training to CNC machine operators and maintenance personnel, and completing service reports, parts usage records, and job documentation. The technician communicates regularly with service coordinators, OEM contacts, and customers throughout each service call, maintains company provided tools, parts inventory, and service equipment, and builds strong customer relationships through responsive, professional service.
Travel throughout the regional territory is required, including occasional overnight stays.
- At least 5 years of hands on experience servicing CNC metal cutting machines
- Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot PLCs, motors, drives, CNC controls, and mechanical systems
- Associate degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands on experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage a regional service territory
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware
- Experience with FANUC, Mazak, Okamoto, or comparable CNC machines and controls
- Experience with robotics, pallet changers, or other CNC automation systems
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and digital service documentation tools
