THE POSITIONAre you prepared to use your expertise to lead maintenance activities as a Corrections Maintenance Foreman with the Department of Corrections? In this job, you will oversee inmate work crews and help complete important repair, construction, and groundskeeping tasks at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) r leadership helps keep the facility functioning safely and efficiently. This is a rewarding opportunity to guide teams, build skills, and support essential operations.
DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This role supports the daily maintenance, repair, and construction work needed to keep SCI Muncy operating safely and efficiently. You will oversee inmate work crews and assist with skilled trade tasks across the facility. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will perform the following duties:
- Crew Oversight: Lead inmate work crews in completing maintenance, repair, construction, groundskeeping, and janitorial tasks
- Work Inspection: Review completed assignments, provide instruction, and ensure proper operation of machinery and vehicles
- Skilled Trades: Perform or assist with carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work, welding, and other skilled trades
- Tool Control: Issue, track, and inventory tools and materials, including conducting searches to maintain accountability
- Material Planning: Determine needed tools and supplies and prepare purchase requests when necessary
- Operational Support: Carry out additional related duties to maintain safe, clean, and functional facility operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Sunday - Thursday. Your schedule may include seasonal shift changes as necessary to support snow removal and grounds care.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
