DESCRIPTION

OF WORK

This position focuses on skilled welding and fabrication work that supports safe and reliable transportation equipment and structures. The role requires hands-on expertise with metals, tools, and machinery in a busy maintenance environment. As a Welder, you will perform the following duties:

  • Metal Preparation:
    Prepare and fit various metals for welding by cleaning, heating, and shaping materials
  • Structural Welding:
    Perform welding and cutting tasks on bridges, vehicle bodies, engine parts, and related equipment
  • Parts Fabrication:
    Create and repair components for plow frames, blades, spreaders, and other transportation equipment
  • Tool Operation:
    Operate power and air tools including drills, saws, presses, and compressors to support welding and fabrication tasks
  • Equipment Handling:
    Use motorized equipment such as forklifts, pick-up trucks, and bucket trucks during fabrication and welding assignments
  • Safety Compliance:
    Maintain a safe work area and follow all safety rules, procedures, and reporting requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:
    You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures ; or
  • Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures ; or
  • Completion of an approved welder apprentice program ; or
  • A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society ; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
