Psychiatric Aide - Danville State Hospital; 2nd Shift

• Daily Living Support:
  Assist consumers with activities of daily living and help maintain a living space.
• Health Monitoring:
  Take and record basic health measurements such as temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure.
• Behavioral Assistance:
  Observe consumer behavior and report changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Treatment Program Support:
  Assist with treatment programs, therapeutic activities, and consumer supervision during on and off unit events.
• Emergency Response:
  Respond to medical or psychiatric emergencies according to established procedures and training.
• Communication and Documentation:
  Document consumer information, communicate observations, and maintain confidentiality of all records.

• Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week.
• Work hours:
  
  2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM) with a 30‑minute lunch; rotating schedule including weekends and holidays as assigned.
• 2nd shift differential: $1.25 per hour.
• Overtime and travel as needed.
• Free parking.
• Telework:
  This position does not permit telework.
• Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

• Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities; or
• Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

• Meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

• Conditional offer of employment requires a medical examination and drug screening.
• Position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act; requires satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police and FBI clearance).
