PositionAsylon is hiring a full‑time AI Software Engineer to join our Norristown, PA team. This role bridges data science, robotics engineering, and software development, focusing on embedding AI into our robotic platforms. Responsibilities include building models and systems that enable smarter, safer robots—such as preventive maintenance alerts, video‑based hazard detection, backseat‑driver path planning, and human‑in‑the‑loop decision support. You will collaborate with robotics, software, and operations teams to translate field requirements into production AI solutions.
PrimaryDuties
- Design, train, and deploy machine learning models that add AI capabilities to ground and aerial robotic systems.
- Develop AI tools that enhance robot safety, enabling perception of surroundings and appropriate hazard responses.
- Create AI solutions that increase operational efficiency and reliability, using telemetry and sensor data to anticipate problems and reduce downtime.
- Build decision‑support and human‑in‑the‑loop tools that present the right information to operators at the right time.
- Take models and AI features from research and prototype through to production, ensuring reliable and efficient operation on deployed hardware.
- Collaborate with robotics, software, and operations teams to understand field needs and translate them into AI capabilities.
- 3+ years of professional experience building and shipping machine learning or AI systems, including production deployment.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Python and the modern ML/data ecosystem (PyTorch or Tensor Flow, Num Py, pandas).
- Strong foundation in machine learning, including model training, evaluation, and deployment trade‑offs for resource‑constrained environments.
- Experience with video/imagery, time‑series, sensor telemetry, or point‑cloud data.
- Comfortable writing production‑quality code and collaborating with engineers across the stack to integrate AI into larger systems.
- Computer vision experience (object detection, tracking, segmentation, depth estimation) for robotics or autonomous systems.
- Deployment and optimization of models for edge or embedded hardware (e.g., quantization, ONNX/TensorRT, GPU inference).
- Anomaly detection or predictive maintenance on sensor or telemetry data.
- Familiarity with autonomy concepts such as path planning, obstacle avoidance, sensor fusion, or SLAM.
- Experience with LiDAR or point‑cloud processing.
- Experience with MLOps practices and tooling.
- Background in robotics, IoT, autonomous systems, or related hardware domains.
