Position: Senior JAVA Developer with Security Clearance
Responsibilities Noblis MSD is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support a large-scale software project for U.S. Navy programs. This is an onsite position based at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Noblis MSD supports Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) by providing engineering, software development, systems integration, cybersecurity, logistics, and life-cycle support to Navy programs.

The Senior Java Developer will work as part of a software development team to design, develop, maintain, test, and support Java-based applications. The ideal candidate has experience working with large software codebases, helping improve existing applications, and supporting other developers through collaboration, code reviews, and technical guidance. Other languages include Gradle, bash, python, structured text, and ladder logic. Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, maintain, and enhance Java software applications
* Support software development, troubleshooting, testing, integration, and release activities
* Work with large existing Java codebases and help improve maintainability over time
* Review, understand, and update existing software as needed
* Support modernization, refactoring, and performance improvement efforts
* Participate in code reviews and help promote good software development practices
* Support build, deployment, and release activities using tools such as Git Lab, Jira, Sonar Qube, or similar platforms
* Assist with troubleshooting software issues identified during development, integration, testing, or field support
* Help mentor or guide other developers when needed
* Collaborate with software developers, testers, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program stakeholders
* Support technical documentation such as design notes, release notes, installation instructions, and user/support guidance
* Communicate status, blockers, risks, and technical issues clearly and professionally

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a relevant technical discipline
* 8+ years of experience developing software using Java
* Experience working with large or multi-module Java applications
* Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or refactoring existing Java codebases
* Strong understanding of object-oriented design and software development best practices
* Experience with Java 17 or later
* Familiarity with Java modernization concepts, such as records, enhanced switch, modularity, dependency management, or related language/platform improvements
* Experience with version control tools such as Git or Git Lab
* Experience using issue tracking tools such as Jira or similar platforms
* Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Git Lab CI/CD, or similar platforms
* Familiarity with code quality tools such as Sonar Qube or similar platforms
* Ability to work in a Linux environment
* Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with people at varying technical levels
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
* Ability to obtain a Secret clearance Desired Qualifications
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a relevant technical discipline
* Experience supporting modernization or refactoring of large Java applications
* Experience with Java platform migrations
* Experience with Bash scripting or general automation scripting
* Experience with Docker, containers, or RHEL 8/9 environments
* Familiarity with JGroups or distributed Java applications
* Experience helping guide, mentor, or support other developers
* Experience supporting software integration and formal test events
* Experience writing clear technical documentation, including design notes, release notes, and installation guidance
* Experience working on DoD, Navy, or other government software programs
