As a Driver License Examiner, you will conduct standardized examinations to evaluate the skill and competence of both commercial (CDL) and non-commercial driver license applicants, as well as assist customers at the Driver License Center by processing applications and paperwork. Special attention must be given towards thoroughly examining paperwork and documentation in order to combat identity theft and fraud.
Responsibilities- Determine physical and driving qualifications of applicants and the mechanical conditions of vehicles for conformance to established standards necessary for safe driving.
- Administer vision tests (telebinocular, color perception, and other tests) and administer non-CDL and CDL examinations to ensure examinees have knowledge and understanding of Vehicle Code and traffic signs.
- Process applications and test results accurately and issue driver licenses and identification card products to eligible applicants.
- Provide efficient and courteous customer service and clear communication, interacting with the public daily and responding to inquiries.

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Occasional overtime and travel to other Driver License Centers may be required

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title), or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application
- All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five-year period immediately preceding employment
- All employees hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment
- This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The CDL cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z
