Van Driver; Local Government - Wayne County Area Agency Aging

THE POSITION

Looking for a rewarding part-time job? The Wayne County Transportation Department in Honesdale, PA is hiring dependable, compassionate drivers to provide door-to-door transportation for county residents, including helping seniors access essential services and appointments.

With our team, your work will enhance the mobility of consumers by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable and courteous manner. This is a great chance to work independently and become a dependable part of our community. As a Van Driver, you will perform the following duties:

• Provide Transportation:
  Operate county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day
• Assist Door-to-Door:
  Willingly and patiently assist consumers, including senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers along rough payment or unpaved paths, from the door of their home, on and off the vehicle, and to the door of their drop-off location
• Participate in Teamwork:
  Communicate effectively both person to person and via two-way radio, follow directions listed on a mobile tablet, and easily adjust in daily schedule to meet consumer needs
• Support Social Contact:
  Be a people-person as you will be providing important assistance and socialization throughout the day, while following a schedule
• Help Ensure Safety:
  Contact a dispatcher to help correct any scheduling conflicts; complete the daily pre-trip checklist and report any issues or changes; participate in agency training

• Part-time employment, 14-21+ hours per week.
• Transportation operates 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturdays.
• Telework:
  You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

• You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

Condition of Employment:

• No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
