First Energy is looking for an open temporary position with Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L), a subsidiary of First Energy Corp. This role is for Transitional Meter Reading positions in Central & North New Jersey. To be considered, candidates must successfully pass an EEI Meter Reading test. Applicants expressing interest will be considered for future opportunities at multiple locations in Central & Northern NJ.

The starting hourly rate for the position is $32.59.

• Read meters regularly and records on handheld processor
• Estimate readings when required
• Report apparent improper rate classifications
• Check company meter numbers
• Report evidence of meter tampering, diversion of current and other unusual conditions
• Ensure meters are properly sealed
• Read and reset demand meter registers
• Check time and reset water heating and time clocks
• Report complaints or inquiries to the proper authority
• Familiarize self with district rules, assign folios to new accounts, mark location on route map, and make rereads or special readings
• Perform incidental clerical work

• MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THE BASIC BATTERY TEST
• Ability to perform semi‑routine operations of moderate complexity under directive supervision
• Pertinent and qualifying experience and training in a similar type and line of work
• Exercise a moderate degree of judgment
• Familiarity with the company’s safety rules applicable to this and related jobs; work in moderately varied environments
• Frequent customer contacts of moderate importance required
• Valid driver’s license
• Working vehicle and proof of insurance to perform daily duties
