Job SummaryOur firm is seeking a meticulous and dependable Part-Time Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and expense reimbursements in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a professional services firm, ideally a law firm, and understands the importance of confidentiality, precision, and timeliness.
Key Responsibilities- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices in accordance with firm policies and general ledger coding
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Coordinate invoice approvals with attorneys, paralegals, and department heads
- Process check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
- Assist with attorney and staff expense reimbursements, ensuring compliance with firm guidelines
- Maintain accurate accounts payable records and digital filing systems
- Communicate professionally with vendors and internal staff regarding payment status and inquiries
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks as needed
- Support the finance department with ad-hoc administrative and accounting duties
- High school diploma required;
Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred - 1–2 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
- Familiarity with trust accounting and client-related disbursements is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with legal accounting software (e.g., Aderant, Elite, Clio, or similar) preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
