A rapidly growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Project Accountant with a strong Accounts Receivable focus to support expanding operations. This is a newly created role designed for a hands‑on accounting professional who enjoys building processes, partnering with operations teams, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
This position will initially be heavily focused on establishing and managing AR processes, with responsibilities evolving over time to include broader project accounting support.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of the company’s Accounts Receivable and collections processes
- Manage AR billing workflows in collaboration with regional managers currently overseeing billing functions
- Establish and maintain a professional, relationship‑driven collections process with customers and vendors
- Oversee lien waivers, contract documentation, and AR compliance requirements
- Support construction job costing and project accounting activities
- Review and update Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) schedules to ensure accuracy
- Partner with operations teams to improve billing accuracy and project financial visibility
- Assist with journal entries and general ledger accounting as AR processes stabilize
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and accounting controls
- Act as a cross‑functional partner within a fast‑paced, evolving environment
- 8+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction or project‑based environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred — equivalent high‑level experience will be considered
- Strong background in Accounts Receivable, billing, and collections
- Hands‑on experience with construction accounting and job costing is required
- Familiarity with lien waivers, contract billing, and project documentation
- Sage 300 experience is a plus, but not required
- Comfortable building processes from the ground up
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- Self‑starter who can work independently while collaborating closely with leadership
