About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of General Ledger & Accounting, the Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting departmental colleagues and ensuring financial integrity across the organization. This position also serves as a backup to the Payroll Administrator. Proficient in MIP accounting software, the Staff Accountant collaborates with internal stakeholders, including multi-site program and administrative staff, to maintain accurate financial records.

Responsibilities include maintaining the general ledger, recording journal entries, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • AA Degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field
  • Proven experience with bank reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and governmental accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • AA Degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Non-profit experience preferred.
  • ERP accounting software experience preferred.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and financial reporting tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Perform month-end and fiscal year-end close.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation.
  • Backup to the Payroll Administrator
  • Preparing financial analysis and reports.
  • Assist with requests from various departments and management.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.

Skills:

Ability to work with MS Office products, particularly advanced formulation in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and situations. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of personalities and situations. Positive, professional demeanor. Must be detail-oriented. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete projects in a timely manner. Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks and constant interruptions.

Ability to be courteous, dependable, flexible, responsible, punctual, and professional. Strong work ethic. Resourceful and capable of taking initiative in a changing workplace environment.
