Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to manage the reporting for a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate will be proficient with MRI software and manage daily accounting tasks, monthly reconciliations, and annual reporting. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial records and reports while providing essential administrative support.
Daily accounting and cash managementRecord daily cash receipts, including matching cash deposits from sweep accounts to reports and entering physical checks received.
Monitor daily financial activity for assigned companies by logging into the JP Morgan (Axcess) portal.
After entering checks, wires, and ACH transactions, record daily cash activity into templates for specific properties and reconcile against the General Ledger.
Process incoming physical mail and emails containing invoices.
Process bill payments, including both checks and online payments. Coordinate with management to ensure checks are signed and handle urgent, short-notice check requests for various purposes.
File and pay sales tax for properties in relevant states (e.g., Arizona).
Complete monthly bank reconciliations for assigned company accounts.
Initiate ACH payments or run checks for time‑sensitive, first‑of‑the‑month payments, such as HOA dues and partner distributions.
Work with property management to record and adjust for annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations.
Process business license filings for properties.
Review and process annual 1099 forms for assigned companies.
Provide support for special projects.
Provide general administrative support, including answering incoming phone calls.
Experience and Qualifications- Proven experience in a property accounting or bookkeeping role with multiple entities.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with MRI software is preferred.
- Understanding of accounting principles specific to the real estate industry, including CAM reconciliations.
- Meticulous and highly organized with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Competency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and general office equipment.
- Effective communication skills for internal and external interactions.
- Ability to work full-time in our Phoenix-based office.
