Payroll Tax Supervisor

Tax Supervisor (Mesa, Arizona)

Vaco Phoenix is partnering with a growing organization to hire a Tax Supervisor. This direct‑hire opportunity offers a hybrid schedule after training, strong leadership exposure, and the chance to oversee a team within a large multi‑state tax environment.

• $95,000-$110,000 annual salary
• 10% annual bonus
• Possible discretionary bonuses; medical, dental, and vision benefits; 401(k) retirement plan

• Supervise and mentor a team of 8-10 Tax Specialists
• Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings and payments across multiple states
• Review and validate tax filings to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Partner closely with payroll teams to support payroll tax accuracy and issue resolution
• Research and resolve tax‑related issues and notices
• Ensure recurring filing deadlines are met in a high‑volume environment
• Assist with process improvements, training, and implementation of best practices
• Support new state and locality tax setup and compliance requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of tax experience within a corporate or high‑volume environment
• Experience with multi‑state tax compliance
• Prior supervisory experience with direct reports
• Experience partnering with payroll teams and reviewing payroll tax filings
• Strong understanding of tax compliance processes, deadlines, and controls
