Controller
Position Summary:
The controller will handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee the financial activities of the company. As head of the accounting department, the controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance. This role requires collaboration with the company's leadership and team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Oversees the operations of the accounting department which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll.
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for various entities and ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Conduct regular journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Oversee the monthly closing process and subsequent reporting.
- Manage daily cash flow, including reconciliations and forecasting.
- Support treasury functions and participate in audit and tax processes.
- Maintain and manage the fixed asset ledger.
- Collaborate with different departments to enhance financial processes and reporting.
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of all financial data.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance – required.
- Ideal candidate 5 to 10 years of experience in field.
- Experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager.
- Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting (GAAP).
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Independent, self-motivated individual who also thrives in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
- Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members.
