The Kostelic Agency is conducting a search for an experienced Assistant Controller to join a rapidly growing, multi-state organization headquartered in Phoenix.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, where you'll help lead the accounting function through the company's next phase of growth. The organization has grown from approximately $300M in annual revenue in 2025 and is projected to exceed $400M this year
, driven by continued expansion into new markets and strategic acquisitions.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building processes, partnering with operations, leading teams, and rolling up their sleeves in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Scope & Impact- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes while ensuring timely, GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial statement preparation.
- Own technical accounting areas including ASC 842 lease accounting
, fixed assets, and internal controls. - Support mergers and acquisitions, including purchase accounting and post-acquisition integration.
- Lead annual audit activities and serve as a key liaison with external auditors.
- Drive accounting process improvements, ERP enhancements, and system implementation initiatives.
- Partner closely with Operations and executive leadership to improve reporting, strengthen processes, and support continued growth.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred; MBA a plus).
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
- Experience with in multi-entity, multi-location organizations
. - Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close.
- Hands-on experience with ASC 842 lease accounting
, fixed assets, reconciliations, and internal controls. - ERP implementation or system conversion experience preferred.
- Experience with Sage Intacct and/or Service Titan is highly desirable.
- Private equity and M&A experience is a plus.
