Role DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing construction company based in Arizona. This is an on-site, full-time position that plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our operations. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on accounting experience from within the construction, engineering, or real estate development industry, and is comfortable working in a project‑driven environment where accuracy and timeliness are paramount.

$80,000 - $100,000 per year
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Prepare financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Assist in preparation of monthly management reports for leadership and project owners
- Support any annual financial audits and liaise with external auditors
- Track and allocate project costs across multiple active construction projects
- Monitor budgets vs. actuals on a per-project basis and flag variances to management
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting
- Prepare and review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and overbilling/under billing reports
- Oversee accounts payable including subcontractor payments, purchase orders, and lien waivers
- Manage accounts receivable including AIA billing, draw requests, and collections
- Ensure compliance with Arizona lien laws and contractor payment regulations
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Support payroll processing including certified payroll for prevailing wage projects
- Ensure compliance with Arizona state tax filings, sales tax, and use tax reporting
- Assist with insurance audits, bonding documentation, and licensing renewals
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards
- Work within accounting software and its features (Quick Books, Quickbooks Time, Quickbooks Estimates)
- Collaborate with other teams’ software that integrate into accounting workflows ()
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and improve reporting accuracy
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Proficiency in construction accounting principles including job costing and WIP reporting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
- Prior experience in construction, general contracting, or a related industry
- Familiarity with Arizona-specific contractor licensing and tax requirements
