Accountant, HAP

Overview

Invitation Homes, a publicly traded REIT specializing in single‑family rentals, is seeking an HAP Accountant to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and program compliance.

• Provide financial data for RTA packets and extract payment information from the Resident Access Housing Authority portals.
• Create receipt batches in Yardi to apply HAP payments.
• Research HAP and Resident accounts receivable balances on the Resident ledger to verify accuracy of payment application.
• Communicate with property management field personnel and HAP authorities to resolve discrepancies and share correspondence.
• Review HAP contracts and resident leases to verify charges.
• Conduct monthly audits to ensure program compliance.

• BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field. Preference for candidates with real‑estate development, hospitality or property‑management experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant accounting experience.
• Knowledge of HUD policies and regulations.
• Proficiency with Yardi property‑management software.
• Intermediate Excel user capable of exporting and creating reports.
• Entry‑level knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Analytical ability to interpret complex issues and determine root causes.
• Organized, flexible, and able to prioritize multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Accuracy and audit/reconciliation skills to maintain data integrity.

Salary range: $23.78 - $41.22 per hour, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
