We are currently recrutiting for a highly organized, deadline-driven Staff Accountant who can work independently in a hands-on nonprofit accounting environment. The ideal candidate can be shown something once and execute accurately, with a proactive approach to managing daily accounting work and deadlines. This is a contract-hire opportunity and is 5-days in office.
Responsibilities- Process incoming invoices and customer/vendor invoicing activity accurately and timely.
- Record invoice and payment activity into the general ledger.
- Perform accurate and thorough bank reconciliations.
- Run reports to confirm invoices are paid and payment activity is complete.
- Cut checks and/or process ACH payments on schedule.
- Assist the CFO with financial reports and accounting support as needed.
- Apply accounting activity to grants and assist with grant accounting processes.
- Cover grant billing responsibilities during vacations or absences as needed; another team member currently handles the actual grant billing.
- Support full-cycle accounting in a hands-on, nitty-gritty environment.
- Full-cycle accounting experience.
- Sage Intacct experience
- Strong bank reconciliation skills with a high level of accuracy and follow-through.
- Experience processing invoices, payments, checks, ACH, and GL entries.
- Grant accounting exposure or ability to support accounting activity tied to grants.
- Ability to run accounting reports and use them to validate payment status and activity
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and proactive rather than reactive.
- Able to work independently and learn systems/processes quickly.
- Pleasant, professional communication style for an onsite, five-day-a-week office environment.
- Full-cycle accounting experience.
