Controller, Accounting, Financial Controller

Our Central Phoenix Manufacturing client is seeking a hands-on Interim Controller to lead accounting operations, provide financial leadership, and partner closely with operations. This role requires a strong background in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, and team leadership.
This position will be on-site in their Phoenix office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting functions, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end close.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team while remaining involved in day-to-day operations.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Drive cost accounting, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and margin performance reporting.
• Partner with plant and operational leaders to improve financial and operational results.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and working capital initiatives.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Support ERP optimization, process improvement, and ongoing process efficiencies.
• Deliver financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years of leadership experience.
• Required manufacturing industry background with strong cost and inventory accounting expertise.
• Experience supporting multi-site operations and manufacturing ERP systems.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with operations and executive leadership in a fast-paced environment.
