Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest law firms in the Western United States, with more than 500 attorneys across multiple offices throughout the region, is excited to welcome an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to a role where you can make a meaningful impact and grow your career in our Phoenix office .

In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee our Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Trust & Retainer accounting functions, manage daily financial operations, supervise team members, and ensure accuracy and compliance across all accounting activities.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Cultivate cross-functional relationships by meeting regularly with AR and Account Managers
  • Conduct Trust & Retainer fund audits
  • Lead monthly check-ins with your AP, AR, and Trust & Retainer team members
  • Welcome new client relationships by reviewing and signing vendor forms
  • Execute wire payments
  • Work with the Accounting Director on daily cash positioning and fund availability and own the daily cash picture by analyzing cash report spreadsheets
  • Serve as the go-to expert for expense reimbursement questions
  • Approve ACH payments, ensuring funds flow seamlessly to vendors and partners
  • Monitor AP and AR communications and ensure rush requests and special instructions are handled
  • Manage trust and retainer fund transfers
  • Partner internal audit on monthly bank reconciliations and investment account reviews
  • Review and distribute the Firm’s 1099s on an annual basis
  • Work closely with the Firm’s internal auditor on escheatment completion annually

Projects & Process Improvement:

  • Lead account analysis and approval initiatives in coordination with cross-functional partners
  • Manage vendor master file maintenance, including inactivation of unused vendors
  • Identify and implement improvements to AR payment processing and client payment platforms
  • Support team initiatives including banking relationship management, cash management optimization, and system integration projects
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Director to roll out a virtual card process and contribute to the Firm’s loss prevention initiatives
  • Lead the implementation of the payment request approval workflow.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role
