Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant performs professional accounting functions of considerable complexity in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Staff Accountant works closely with the Director of Finance and Accounting team in the areas of general accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of accounting information by recording, verifying, reconciling, consolidating, and analyzing financial transactions.
This position prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries and assists with month-end and year-end closing activities. The Staff Accountant also provides input on, maintains, and reports key performance indicators related to the position's responsibilities and overall Accounting team objectives.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with credit card data clearing.
- Post payroll journal entries and health insurance allocations in SAP.
- Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
- Perform general ledger and account analysis, account reconciliation and research variances and discrepancies.
- Record and upload banking transactions for multiple bank accounts and balancing to bank daily.
- Prepare bank reconciliations.
- Clear balance sheet accounts as assigned.
- Assist with the preparation of Annual Review materials and supporting documentation.
- Assist with ongoing and future accounting projects as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- 2-5 years of experience in various public or private accounting functions
- At least 2 years of experience in General Ledger
- Experienced with accrual-based accounting and US GAAP standards.
- At least one year of SAP FICO experience
- Working knowledge of accounting and finance in wholesale, retail or manufacturing industries
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, and SAP or comparable accounting software. Experience with Power BI is preferred.
- Works effectively under the direction of the Director of Finance while exercising sound judgment and accountability in assigned responsibilities.
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when handling sensitive financial, employee, and company information.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, including ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
