Position: 2026-27 Clerk II .48 FTE - North Canyon HS

Purpose

The job of Clerk II is performed to greet and direct visitors, respond to inquiries from staff, the public, parents, students, etc., provide clerical support to administrative personnel, and provide requested information and/or referral to other parties.

Reports To

Building Principal

Essential Functions
  • Answers telephone system for screening calls, call transfer, responding to inquiries, taking messages, and emailing.
  • Coordinates projects, functions, and program components (e.g., meetings, Read Across America program, substitute coverage, peer mediation schedules) to complete activities and deliver services on time.
  • Greets individuals entering the building and directs them to appropriate locations following security procedures.
  • Inputs data into commercial and customized databases (attendance, scheduling, employee parking, transcripts) ensuring data accuracy.
  • Maintains manual and electronic document files and records (absence reports, counselor schedules) providing up‑to‑date information and historical reference per administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Performs general clerical functions such as copying, faxing, data entry, filing to support office operations.
  • Schedules activities (appointments, building usage, bus and van usage) to arrange necessary accommodations for administrators and supervisors.
  • Distributes items within the site (mail, discipline notes, special delivery and overnight mail/packages, messages) ensuring correct receipt.
  • Receives items (mail, special deliveries, packages, supplies) for distribution to appropriate parties.
Other Functions
  • Maintains reception area materials to provide resource information to visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Ability to perform multiple tasks, upgrade skills as needed; prepare and maintain accurate records; operate standard office equipment; utilize relevant software; customer service; telephone screening; basic math; understand written procedures; write routine documents; speak clearly; understand written and oral instructions; business telephone etiquette; office practices; record keeping/retention; schedule activities/meetings; collate classify data; work with diverse individuals; maintain confidentiality;

    adapt to changing priorities; handle frequent interruptions; communicate with diverse groups; display tact and courtesy; organize tasks.
  • Experience: Job related experience is required.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Testing / Certificates / Licenses: Pre‑employment proficiency tests: spelling, mathematics, filing & typing; criminal background clearance;
    Arizona DPS Level I IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Other: FLSA status: non‑exempt.
Work Environment

The job requires physical demands such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching; requires 85% sitting, 10% walking, 5% standing; generally a clean and healthy environment.
