About This Position
The Court Clerk II classification performs a variety of clerical tasks related to court cases. Duties may include providing customer service in person or by phone, explaining court processes to members of the public, scanning and creating case files, generating and processing dockets/documents/discovery/subpoenas, reading and interpreting court documents, defendant notices, computer printouts, or case files, accessing and interpreting case‑related information from data or image computer systems, entering and updating computer records, working with outside agencies, and handling cash.

The position requires basic calculations and proficiency with standard office equipment such as a computer, scanner, telephone, calculator, copy machine, and fax machine. A thorough understanding of alpha filing systems is essential. Candidates must also possess strong problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills. Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all court records when working in the Records Management Section: assist the public at front counters, prepare files for courtrooms, file case files, respond to public records requests, certify documents, prepare and scan files for archiving, correspond with the public, destroy case files per the retention schedule, accept filings, manage court audio recordings, process appeals, audit case files, and perform data entry.
- In the Call Center Section, answer a high volume of incoming calls, provide general information, research specific case information, route calls to appropriate courtrooms or sections, receipting payments over the phone, performing data entry, preparing mail for distribution, and other duties as assigned.
- Customer focused, able to interact professionally with members of the public, judges, attorneys, and other staff in the legal system.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Ability to perform clerical tasks involving legal terminology and processes.
- Proficient with basic calculations, standard office equipment, and alpha filing systems.
- For Court Clerk I:
One year of clerical or public‑contact experience. - For Court Clerk II:
Two years of clerical or public‑contact experience, including at least one year in a courtroom or law office.
- Employees skilled in a second language may be asked to use that skill in routine duties.
- All finalists are subject to a criminal background check.
- Positions require compliance with Criminal Justice Information Systems background standards.
- Fluent in Spanish (written and oral).
- Experience with cash‑handling practices.
- Experience and interest in working in a call center environment.

Court Clerk I: $19.54 per hour.
Court Clerk II: $20.51 – $33.41 per hour (hiring range $20.51 – $22.61 per hour). The pay range reflects the entire compensation spectrum for the classification, while the hiring range estimates the typical offer range based on candidate qualifications.
