Purpose Statement
The job of CE Technician 2 is performed to register students and maintain computerized student records and files for CE courses and classes; provide student information to authorized parties in compliance with established policies; and provide general clerical support, information and/or direction as assigned.

ReportingThis position reports to the Assistant Director of Community Education.
Essential Functions- Answers telephone system for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries, and/or taking messages.
- Greets individuals entering the building (e.g., visitors, parents, students) for the purpose of responding to inquiries and/or directing individuals to appropriate locations.
- Maintains reception area materials to provide resource information to visitors.
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g., student information, registrations) to provide up-to-date information and/or historical reference.
- Performs enrollment and withdrawal activities to comply with established requirements.
- Prepares written materials (e.g., packets for registration, pre‑K packets) for the purpose of communicating information to other parties and/or agencies.
- Processes a variety of documents and materials (e.g., forms, monies, birth certificates, immunization records) to complete registrations for CE classes or courses.
- Responds to questions from a variety of internal and external sources for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
- Supports assigned personnel to provide assistance with their functions and responsibilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Secures work site (e.g., office doors, building exit and entrance doors, turn off teacher workroom equipment) to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and/or potential liability.
Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Skills include operating standard office equipment and software, maintaining accurate records, collecting money, providing customer service, and screening telephone calls.
Knowledge involves basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios), reading manuals, writing documents following prescribed formats, presenting information to others, and understanding complex, multi‑step instructions. Knowledge areas also include codes, regulations & laws related to student enrollment and business telephone etiquette.
Abilities include scheduling activities and/or meetings, collating and classifying data, using basic job‑related equipment, working with a wide diversity of individuals, interpreting data independently, and problem‑solving to identify issues and create action plans. Abilities also cover communication with diverse groups, confidentiality, teamwork, working with detailed information, handling frequent interruptions, setting priorities, and working under minimal supervision.
ResponsibilitiesWork under direct supervision using standardized routines; lead, guide, and/or coordinate others; utilize resources from other work units when required; have continual opportunities to impact the organization’s services.
Work EnvironmentPhysical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; fine finger dexterity. Typical activity: 60% sitting, 30% walking, 10% standing. Work is performed in a generally hazard‑free environment.
ExperienceJob‑related experience is required.
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent.
