Job Summary

Are you a Paralegal or legal assistant? Do you have experience performing complex administrative work in a criminal justice or law office environment? The next step in your legal career is here. The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an administrative-level assistant to fill the Program Project Specialist position. This position performs complex, specialized, administrative work in providing available requested Department records to the general public pursuant to federal, state, and departmental rules and regulations.

Review written requests and a wide variety of records, and collect, organize, compile, and maintain hard copies and electronic files. This position is expected to communicate with both internal and external customers regarding the details and needs related to the documents requested, including consulting and conferring with internal personnel and managers. In addition, may be included in the interactive process of improving upon existing and/or implementing new policies and/or procedures related to Public Records Requests as the needs of the Department require.

Job Duties
  • Reviews and redacts records for public release in accordance with applicable laws and Departmental guidelines
  • Analyzes each request to ensure appropriate information is provided
  • Receives, tracks, and responds to public records requests in accordance with Federal and State laws and Departmental policies and procedures
  • Conducts research, analyzes documents and requests, compiles documents and composes professional correspondence and letters
  • Attends meetings and training classes
  • Prepares various reports and reconciles cash payments for document preparation and copies
  • Special projects as assigned, including supporting response efforts for requests for production or documents, subpoenas, and court orders
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate drivers license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended.

Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training.
