Animal Rescue and Transport Specialist – Part Time

The Arizona Humane Society is looking for a part time Rescue and Transport Specialist to join our team and work a schedule of either Sunday – Tuesday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, and Wednesdays 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM OR Sunday – Monday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM, and Tuesdays 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM at our Papago Park Campus. A Day in the Life:

The Rescue and Transport Specialist plays a vital role in the daily operations of our Rescue and Transport Programs, supporting lifesaving efforts through initiatives such as the Rescue Partners Program, Working Cat Program, Project Reachout, Community Cat Program, and Transport Team. This role is responsible for coordinating animal transfers, communicating with rescue partners and community members, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring animals safely move between shelter locations and off site partners.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and brings a collaborative, compassionate approach to their work. You'll build and maintain strong relationships with rescue partners, outreach organizations, clients, and internal teams while providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include transporting animals, supporting medical and intake processes, managing program data, and assisting with special projects as needed. All in service of helping animals receive the care and second chances they deserve.

Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma OR GED.
  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Previous experience in veterinary field preferred. Ability to perform health checks, TPR exams and vaccinations preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in providing exemplary customer service. Experience in working with difficult or combative customers a plus.
  • Familiarity with cash handling operations is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer.
  • Proficiency with multiple social media platforms, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Must be able to handle animals in all conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and customer service skills required.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral, written and public speaking skills.
Other Skills, Abilities and

Qualifications:

Regular attendance. Access to reliable transportation. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals and be able to speak clearly and communicate well with employees and the public.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.

There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
