Position Overview

This position provides statistical and management analyst support to the executive management team. The position is located in the administration unit of the Clerk's Office of the U.S. District Court, District of Arizona, Phoenix Division.

Note:

The CL 27 salary range listed ($62,483 - $75,511) reflects the expected ENTRANCE salary range of this position based on qualifications, experience, and budget funding. The FULL CL 27 salary range potential of this position is $62,483 - $101,569. Position has promo table potential up to a CL 28 ($74,879 - $121,753) without further competition.

Representative Duties

The statistical and management analyst will investigate, develop and implement quantitative and qualitative statistical reports using a variety of software and databases. The incumbent will collect, analyze, interpret and present data; compile monthly and annual workload statistics; analyze workload trends; and maintain historical data. This position requires testing and assessing programs from which the source data is extracted to assure accuracy of information, and the ability to identify and initiate corrective action, as necessary.

Incumbent must stay current in statistical analysis methods and have the ability to develop and integrate reports, charts, or other visual aids to assist in summarizing work performed. Establishes relationships and maintains information sharing networks with the circuit and Administrative Office as well as other statistical/reporting court personnel at different locations and levels for the purpose of remaining knowledgeable of developments, techniques, and user programs.

Incumbent will also assist in the preparation and conducting of management studies; create and follow detailed project plans to ensure projects are completed on time; conduct research and analysis; prepare ad hoc reports and present findings and recommendations, at the direction of the district court executive or chief deputy clerks. The development and maintenance of documentation is also required.

The successful candidate will be required to travel between Phoenix and Tucson as needed.

Occupational Information

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for the typical hiring range, the successful applicant must have two years of specialized experience, including at least one year equivalent to work at the next lower level. To qualify for the CL 28, the applicant must have at least two years of specialized experience, including at least one year equivalent to work at the CL 27 level. Specialized experience is progressively responsible experience in at least one and preferably two or more of the functional areas of management and administration (statistics, operations, accounting, auditing, etc.)

that provides knowledge of the rules, regulations, and terminology of the area of statistical and workload management analysis.

Applicant must have strong written and oral communication skills. Experience with the use of spreadsheets and other automation tools necessary to extract, manipulate, and present data is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to applicants who have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in quantitative analysis, statistics or accounting, as well as experience with statistical concepts and reporting. Extensive knowledge of advanced statistical analysis methodologies with the ability to apply those skills to a judicial reporting environment. Prior court experience is a plus.
