Position: Estimator I

Job Overview

We are seeking an Estimator to join our team supporting the ASSA ABLOY Grand Canyon Service Center located in West Phoenix, right off the 202 Freeway and Lower Buckeye Rd.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the liaison between the company and customers, reviewing technical drawings and blueprints, preparing estimates and quotes utilizing existing pricing information for doors, frames, hardware, shipping, and any production or project issues.
  • Ensure the timely processing of customer quotes, ensuring accuracy and pricing.
  • Communicate with customers on the status of the project, discrepancies, project delays, and related matters.
  • Help drive the quote follow-up process, preparing documents as necessary to compute hit rate and customer metrics.
  • Verify technical drawings and blueprints for accuracy, manufacturability, specification requirements, and coordination of hardware.
  • Gain understanding of production capacity, capabilities, and workflow processes to help manage customer expectations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
  • Actively participate in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
  • Comply with federal, state, local, and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies, and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience (or 1 year if coming from hollow metal and doors industry).
  • Previous exposure to reading blueprints, shop drawings or engineering drawings.
  • Previous experience with direct customer and contractor communication.
  • General understanding of the construction industry, with exposure to the commercial construction industry desired.
  • Exposure to building codes and labeling requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, problem-solving, and follow-up skills, with a comfort level balancing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; exposure to an Order Management platform or ERP system desired.
