General Description:
Responsible for responding to requests for estimates and proposals as directed by the Service Manager, or as necessary for current clients. This position participates in the development of new service sale opportunities and the ongoing growth of existing customers. The project manager will be required to use his or her experience, sound judgement and initiative to successfully meet the Service Department objectives and revenue goals.
You will manage your projects in a manner that exceeds our customers’ expectations and ensure that our work adheres to all company safety policies and OSHA mandated requirements. This position reports directly to the Service Department manager.
- Follow leads, and present to the Service Manager.
- Create new leads when opportunities present themselves.
- Promote the company.
- Upsell the client if possible.
- Coordinate all parts and pieces of each project: site contact, account management, proposals, change orders, contracts, warranties.
- Produce electrical estimates from construction drawings, sketches and job walks.
- Obtain proper pricing for fixture packages, gear packages or any other specialty pricing per job.
- Provide summary bid items and updated pricing as needed.
- Prepare proposals based on scope of work.
- Review estimates briefly one last time before sending off, ensuring inclusions and exclusions are correct.
- Provide budgetary numbers.
- Manage project from start to finish: supply technician with information, conduct preconstruction meetings, manage multiple jobs with priority, check contracts, negotiate and resolve customer concerns, price change orders, do monthly billings, manage materials and labor hours.
- Work with superintendent/PM/client on labor concerns and schedule.
- Attend job site meetings as necessary.
- Provide coaching and counseling to techs.
- Schedule all deliveries to the jobsite, not the shop.
- Maintain relationships with clients: return calls same day, follow up via email, keep paper trail, take lunches periodically, build personal relationships.
- Present concerns of safety, insubordination, theft, or other issues with techs, subcontractors, or employees to Service Manager immediately.
- 10+ years of project management experience in the electrical field; construction or electrical degree desired but not required.
- Ability to use estimating software system and bid projects.
- Sales mindset: always hunting for new work and sales.
- Proper dress code and maintenance of self as per company handbook.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, zip files, etc.).
- Professional communication with all persons.
- Learn the Tom Pop system and properly budget jobs.
- Positive attitude toward all situations, focus on solutions rather than problems.
- Good filing system of all work; maintain a paper trail.
