The Mobility Assessment Evaluator (MAE) is responsible for reviewing ADA paratransit application materials, conducting in‑person interviews, performing functional assessments, and determining applicants’ eligibility for ADA paratransit service. The role requires accurate documentation, timely determination of eligibility, and coordination with the client and quality assurance teams.

Responsibilities
  • Determine final eligibility based on application, interview, functional assessment, and any supplemental information.
  • Conduct in‑person interviews to assess mobility capabilities and review supplemental information.
  • Select and design required functional assessments for each applicant.
  • Provide written eligibility determination documentation to the client within the ADA‑required and contracted time frame.
  • Read and interpret ADA paratransit applications, intake forms, and professional verification forms.
  • Review interview results and application paperwork, following up on assessments and verifications as needed.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Quality Assurance and management teams regarding contractual deadlines and potential liquidated damages.
  • Assist applicants with completing incomplete documents, scanning applications and guides, and inputting information into the applicant’s case.
  • Provide additional written documentation to the client upon request.
  • Assist leadership in identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct physical and/or cognitive assessments, including outdoor/indoor courses and the FACTS MMSE, to apply information for determining applicant’s capability to use fixed‑route transportation.
  • Provide required forms for administrative data entry and eligibility letter generation.
  • Participate in staff meetings with leadership and/or client.
  • Participate in community outreach and education as needed.
  • Participate in initial and ongoing training required by MTM and the client.
  • Complete all necessary reports, paperwork, and applicant tracking logs within contractual deadlines.
  • Process mail‑in applications within assigned deadlines.
  • Assist with conducting phone calls to applicants and providers and perform phone interviews.
  • Input all information into client software (Trapeze) and other relevant systems.
  • Build rapport and communicate effectively with MTM and client personnel, including administrators, managers, and applicants.
  • Participate in the appeals process when requested.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward interactions with individuals, staff, and caregivers.
  • Work with management and the client to follow through on service issues, troubleshoot problems, and provide training.
  • Conform to MTM’s HIPAA standards for confidentiality and security.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Rehabilitation, Ancillary Health Care Profession, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Willingness to accept relevant experience and specialized certifications (COTA, OT, PT) in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, as specified by contract.
  • Minimum 3+ years of professional experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience and knowledge with ADA regulations and sensitivity to issues affecting people with disabilities and older adults.
  • Experience in functional assessment of individuals with disabilities.
  • Skills in conducting assessment interviews, observation, and gathering information for ADA paratransit eligibility.
  • Ability to administer a standardized evaluation tool consistently and score it per established protocols.
  • Clear communication of findings and observations in database reports, notes, and certification letters.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational and multi‑tasking abilities.
  • Flexible hours and adaptability to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Proficiency in working under limited supervision and making clear, factual observations.
  • Additional language skills are preferred.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong skills working with elderly and individuals with disabilities.
  • Preference for candidates eager to learn additional programming and public transportation system knowledge.
  • Knowledge of ADA complementary paratransit regulations beyond basic eligibility.
