Overview

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is an institutionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University located in Phoenix, Arizona. GCU’s Event Services is seeking an Athletics Event Services Coordinator to support on‑campus events.

Responsibilities
  • Successfully complete all essential duties and responsibilities as assigned to Event Coordinator I.
  • Meet with organizing committees to assist with planning scope and format of events.
  • Coordinate services for events including transportation, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements, printing, and event security.
  • Ensure all details are coordinated and planned for, meeting necessary timelines.
  • Ensure staffing is adequate to cover setting up the events and removal/tear-down of events.
  • Monitor event activities to ensure satisfaction of participants, performance of staff, and objectives have been met.
  • Assist in mentoring of Event Coordinator I and Student Workers as assigned.
  • Assist with the organization of planning meetings, event logistics, and partner department follow-through.
  • Assist with scheduling staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Lead and mentor Event Coordinator I’s and Student Workers as assigned.
Equipment and Tools

Event booking, project planning, or similar software; MS Office Suite.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, promotions, or a similar program from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a similar capacity such as an overnight youth camp environment or experience with planning, organizing, and executing events targeting youth.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a background investigation including fingerprinting.
  • Must work varying schedules including evenings, holidays, and weekends; willingness to stay overnight on campus during certain events.
