APS is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Supervisor of Energy Control Center (ECC). In this critical role, you'll guide ECC Operator staff to ensure seamless coordination of activities that uphold the highest standards of reliability, safety, and efficiency. You'll set priorities, drive operational excellence, and ensure compliance with company policies.
What You Will Do:- Oversee daily operations of the Energy Control Center (ECC) Operator staff.
- Collaborate across departments:
Operations, Engineering, Planning, Training, and Compliance to support system reliability and stability. - Provide training and assessments for Transmission Operators and Balancing Authority personnel.
- Support the team with communication flow and step in as needed.
- Resolve operational and technical issues within the unit.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure responsible use of resources.
- Strong leadership in building and developing a high-performing team through coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities.
- Effective relationship-building across disciplines to align technical support and tools with operational needs.
- Commitment to excellence in training delivery and evaluation.
- Clear, timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound judgment in managing resources and operational decisions.
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years demonstrated experience with transmission operations, balancing authority operations, maintenance, or other relevant experience.
- Engineering or equivalent Bachelors Degree in relevant discipline highly preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience in field operations and/or maintenance).
- Current NERC certification, Reliability Coordinator preferred.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
- In depth knowledge of the Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT), Open Access Same Time Information System (OASIS), NERC Reliability Standards, WECC Regional Reliability Standards, NAESB Business Protocols and the FERC Standards of Conduct.
- Must possess ability to implement strategic direction related to all aspects of balancing authority and transmission operations.
- Excellent transmission operations knowledge, effective supervisory skills, project leadership and communication skills.
- Responsible for the daily operation of Energy Control Center (ECC) Operator staff.
- Build relationships by working across disciplines with Operations, Engineering, Planning, Training and Compliance to ensure appropriate technical support, tools and actions are being provided to support transmission reliability and system stability.
- Select and develop a high performing team through effective coaching, performance feedback, recognition, training and developmental opportunities.
- Assist in providing training to Transmission Operators and Balancing Authority in all areas of system operations. Assist in providing training assessments and evaluations.
- Support Shift Supervisors to ensure timely and accurate communications flow from the Energy Control Center to Management, inter-company departments and outside utilities. Has the ability to fill in for shift supervisors rotating on shift.
- Resolves operational or technical issues within the unit.
- Monitors expenditures of unit or area of responsibility ensuring prudent use of company money and resources.
