The mission of Quality and Risk Management (QRM) is to manage the risk in our growing and increasingly complex business to improve financial performance and protect the firm’s assets and reputation. We are seeking a Risk Manager to join the Financial Services and Energy, Resources, & Industrials Industry Risk Management teams, splitting time across those two industries.
Successful candidates will have extensive experience in identifying and mitigating business and contract risks associated with the provision of professional consulting services heavily centered on technology services; they must also have basic fluency in Managed Services.
The Risk Manager role involves providing quality and risk management support throughout the opportunity and engagement lifecycle, including:
- Risk consultations to opportunity pursuit teams.
- Reviewing and revising draft contracts (Statements of Work, Engagement Letters, Change Orders, Subcontractor Agreements, and related services contracts) for professional services.
- Assisting in and, at times, leading negotiations with clients and other third parties.
- Monitoring and mitigating risk during engagement execution.
- Serving as a trusted risk advisor to senior client‑service executives while protecting the Firm.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Deal Support, Contracting, and Negotiations.
- Assist with deal desk and contract review activities.
- Support the sales team with deal and contract structuring, RFI/RFP/Proposals, contract review, drafting custom provisions, and negotiations.
- Intersect with sales, legal, finance, and delivery to act as a strategic advisor helping manage deal flow and optimize sales and contracting cycles.
- Work closely with deal teams and legal in reviewing, advancing, and negotiating agreements such as master agreements, confidentiality agreements, and teaming agreements.
- Own risk consultation and contracting review of scope of work / SOW documents and related schedules.
- Drive the appropriate level of contractual sufficiency into agreements to ensure the intent of all parties is clear.
- Assist with ongoing contracting, risk management, and mitigation support for ongoing contracting requirements (SOWs, Change Orders, amendments, renewals).
- Work with account leadership and quality team to identify and mitigate post‑signature delivery and engagement risks.
- Facilitate continued compliance with contractually required policies and processes and with the Firm's internal policies.
- Maintain knowledge of core professional services (IT, Managed Services, Outsourcing) and product offerings to support contracting and risk matters.
- Proactively pursue and advance firm initiatives, including in software, cloud, data analytics, operate services, Generative AI, and privacy & security.
- Support strategic initiatives for developing/updating processes, tools, and templates to improve risk management and contracting practices.
Key skills and qualifications:
- Strong understanding of professional services contracting lifecycle, especially technology services.
- Proven track record influencing diverse stakeholders and achieving common outcomes.
- Outstanding verbal & written communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent leadership skills, prioritization, and decisiveness under high volume conditions.
- Experience reviewing and advancing scope of work documents, focusing on actionable guidance for delivery execution risks.
- Willingness to listen, learn, and make informed decisions, even when difficult.
- Industry experience in Financial Services and/or Energy, Resources, & Industrials, understanding unique risks.
- Experience with outsourcing, cloud software, software licensing, and alliance agreements.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5‑8 years of direct contract negotiation for technology services or experience in the Consulting/Professional Services space.
- BBA/BA/BS in a related field.
- Ability to travel up to 25% on average.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship.
Preferred:
- Technology delivery and implementation services experience.
- Masters' Degree.
