Business Manager:Marketplace Platform
We are seeking a commercially driven Business Manager to own the financial performance and growth of our platform.
This is not a fleet maintenance or vehicle-management position. This role is responsible for maximizing the revenue and profitability generated by our vans through pricing, yield management, utilization, capacity planning, and disciplined P&L management.
The Business Manager will work closely with an Operations Manager who owns vehicle readiness, maintenance, scheduling execution, field operations, and day-to-day fleet execution. This role will also help expand our capacity through third-party Fleet Pals.
CompensationThe compensation package includes base salary, participation in a performance-based bonus plan, and stock options, giving the successful candidate an opportunity to share in the company’s performance and long-term growth. Bonus and stock option awards are subject to the terms of the applicable company plans.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage pricing and yield strategies based on demand, availability, seasonality, and booking patterns.
- Balance van rates and utilization to maximize revenue and contribution margin.
- Improve the productive use of available vans and operating hours.
- Recommend fleet allocation, market coverage, and capacity levels in partnership with Operations.
- Own the fleet P&L, forecasts, budgets, and performance reviews.
- Track revenue, costs, profitability, utilization, cancellations, and other key business metrics.
- Use data to identify performance gaps, forecast risks, and recommend practical actions.
- Develop business cases for pricing changes, capacity decisions, fleet expansion, and partner growth.
- Build the commercial model and partner pipeline for future third-party Fleet Pal capacity.
- Define partner economics, market criteria, and performance standards.
- Strong communication/marketing/sales skills - the ability to clearly articulate vision and value propositions to stakeholders
- Experience in pricing, yield management, capacity planning, revenue management, or unit economics
- Demonstrated P&L ownership and strong financial judgment
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn data into clear business decisions
- Experience in a fleet, logistics, mobility, marketplace, travel, or other capacity-based business
- Ability to work closely with commercial and operational teams while maintaining clear accountability
- Experience with partner networks or third-party capacity models is preferred
- Clear communicator who can explain tradeoffs and influence decisions
- Van rates and capacity decisions improve revenue and contribution margin.
- Fleet utilization increases without compromising operational performance.
- Leadership has clear visibility into financial results, performance trends, and forecast risks.
- The Business Manager and Operations Manager work from aligned plans with distinct responsibilities.
- Third-party Fleet Pal capacity grows with sustainable economics and clear performance standards.
