Job DescriptionThe role of CE Childcare Associate II is to provide support to the Community Education program within the assigned classroom. Responsibilities include assisting the site manager with program planning, supervising staff and children, training childcare associates in Mascot Club, maintaining records, and ensuring an up‑to‑date inventory of supplies and equipment.
This position reports to the CE Childcare Associate V.
Essential Functions- Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health‑care professional (e.g., diapering, tube feeding, colostomy bag, medication).
- Assist the site manager with organizing, planning, and monitoring activities to reinforce play and academic concepts.
- Supervise staff and children to ensure efficient use of class time and a positive learning environment.
- Communicate with teachers, parents, and host school staff to evaluate progress and foster supportive relationships.
- Maintain equipment inventory to keep an up‑to‑date reference and ensure availability.
- Monitor individual and/or groups of students in various settings to provide a safe positive learning environment.
- Prepare logs, reports, and documents (e.g., monthly lesson plans, supply lists, behavioral/accident reports).
- Procure necessary supplies and materials to maintain availability of required items.
- Train childcare associates in Mascot Club on district policies and National School Age Care Alliance standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements:Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skills: Ability to perform multiple tasks, adhere to safety practices, control and motivate students, and prepare accurate records.
Knowledge: Basic math, ability to read manuals, write documents, understand multi‑step instructions, stages of child development, age‑appropriate activities, positive reinforcement techniques, health standards.
Abilities: Schedule activities, gather and classify data, use basic equipment, work with diverse individuals, problem‑solve, communicate with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, work as part of a team.
ResponsibilityWork under direct supervision using standardized procedures, lead and coordinate others, utilize resources from other units where required, with continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
Work EnvironmentPhysical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The job requires 50% sitting, 20% walking, and 30% standing, with exposure to injury or illness risk.
ExperienceJob‑related experience is desired.
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent.
EquivalencyMust meet staff qualifications for a facilities director under Section R9‑5‑401 of the Arizona Administrative Code. Applicants must provide documentation of one of the following:
- At least 12 months of child‑care experience, a high school or equivalency diploma, and (a) three credit hours in early childhood, child development, or a related field, or (b) at least 30 hours of instruction in related topics.
- At least 12 months of child‑care experience and (a) an N.A.C., C.D.A., or C.C.P. credential, or (b) at least 24 credit hours, including six in early childhood or related field.
- At least six months of child‑care experience and an associate degree in early childhood, child development, or related field.
- At least three months of child‑care experience and a bachelor’s degree in early childhood or related field.
Level One Fingerprint Card (fee $67), CPR Certificate, Annual TB Skin Test, First Aid Certificate, MMR Vaccination Record, Copy of High School Diploma.
Continuing Education / TrainingCPR Certificate Renewal, First Aid Certificate Renewal.
ClearancesCriminal Background Clearance, Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
