Hours: 2:45 pm – 6:30 pm (3.75 hours per day)
Location: Various (as needed by program)
Rate: $15.15 per hour
Position Type: Temporary / Timesheet
Purpose StatementThe CE Childcare Intern supports the Community Education program by assisting in the organization and direction of age‑appropriate activities, preparing and serving snacks, and maintaining a clean and safe learning environment.
Essential Functions- Administers first aid under the direction of childcare staff.
- Assists the site manager with lesson planning and activity delivery for small groups or individuals.
- Communicates with school staff and parents under childcare direction.
- Completes at least 18 hours of approved training annually to meet Department of Health Services regulations.
- Distributes instructional and play materials.
- Maintains behavior standards consistent with district and program policy.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and records.
- Monitors student behavior across settings (snack time, games, playground, field trips, classroom).
- Prepares nutritional snacks, lunches, bottles, etc.
- Performs related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.
Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Apply pertinent policies, regulations, and laws.
- Basic math including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Read manuals, write documents, and present information.
- Understand age‑appropriate activities and stages of child development.
- Schedule activities, collate data, and use basic job‑related equipment.
- Work flexibly with diverse individuals and handle data per defined processes.
- Problem‑solve and create action plans following guidelines.
- Work under limited supervision using standardized practices.
- Provide information and advise others; utilize resources from other work units as required.
The job requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling are required. The role is 20% sitting, 30% walking, and 50% standing, with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness in a clean atmosphere.
Experience and EducationJob‑related experience is required. Targeted education with study in a related area is preferred.

- Annual TB Skin Test (fee First Aid Certificate).
- Copy of MMR Vaccination Record.
- CPR Certificate Renewal.
- First Aid Certificate Renewal.
- Criminal Background Clearance.
- Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card – (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./fingerprint
