Description
The primary function of the Project Superintendent is to control all field activities related to a project, including on‑site field administration, supervision, and technical management of all construction operations. The role supervises and mentors the Assistant Project Superintendent(s), Field Engineer(s), and laborers, and oversees subcontractors, owner vendors, and other construction personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Capable of supervising a project with a budget range of $5M+, across various delivery methods, market sectors, and complexities.
- Assist the Senior Project Superintendent or other assigned supervisors when part of a large project team.
- Develop, maintain and enforce a project‑specific site logistics plan and temporary facilities.
- Develop, maintain and enforce a project‑specific site safety program.
- Coordinate and manage all material deliveries and subcontracts.
- Assist the Project Manager in developing subcontractor scopes of work.
- Provide input to the Project Manager on field activities with cost impacts; follow WEO procedures for documenting all change orders and back‑charge work.
- Develop, maintain and enforce the overall baseline schedule and weekly 8‑week look‑ahead project schedules.
- Implement and manage all SWPPP measures and documentation.
- Obtain and maintain QSP certification, if required by the specific project.
- Maintain knowledge of all project documents, enforce contractual obligations, and stay current with changes.
- Provide technical assistance to all project team members.
- Coordinate all field inspections and testing.
- Assist in providing field information affecting Monthly Reconciliation Report accuracy and forecasts.
- Develop, implement, and enforce the project‑specific quality control program for all subcontractors.
- Prepare and maintain the project’s P6 baseline schedule and monthly updates; document delays appropriately.
- Maintain timely schedule updates for OAC and subcontractor meetings.
- Monitor all job site control reporting measures.
- Video record and document project conditions before construction.
- Ensure staff complete and store weekly progress photos and meeting minutes.
- Create and issue all project‑specific Incident Reports.
- Schedule and chair all JHA related meetings, utilizing WEO safety department when applicable.
- Oversee daily coordination of all subcontractor activities.
- Document all actions related to potential claims or legal action.
- Ensure compliance with insurance, labor relations, and EEO requirements.
- Oversee and supervise all WEO‑employed or 3rd‑party laborers.
- Prepare and submit weekly timesheets for WEO labor force.
- Assist the Project Manager in developing the General Conditions budget.
- Enforce WEO and Cal‑OSHA safety standards.
- Collect daily subcontractor reports; write concise daily summaries.
- Create and manage completion and punch lists; ensure timely closure.
- Mentor field staff and conduct annual performance reviews.
- Develop skills and career paths for Field Engineers and Assistant Project Superintendents.
- Effective written and verbal communication.

Four‑year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience in a related field; or 8+ years of relevant project field experience, including roles as Field Engineer and Assistant Project Superintendent.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project or P6 Scheduling Software and project management tools such as Prolog, Viewpoint, CMiC, or equivalents. Experience with daily software tools (Bluebeam, Plan Grid, Safety Mojo, BIM 360 Glue, etc.) is preferred.
