Lab Technician

Laboratory Technician is tasked with materials testing and quality control for transportation construction projects. Work under the supervision of a lab supervisor and may be involved in engineering construction inspections, sampling, and testing of materials like concrete, asphalt, and steel. Additionally, may maintain equipment, facilities, and records related to materials testing.

• Testing and Inspection:
  Conducting tests on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, aggregates, soils, according to ASTM, AASHTO, and ADOT methods.
• Material Sampling:
  Collecting samples of materials for testing from various locations.
• Equipment Maintenance:
  Ensuring the proper functioning and calibration of testing equipment.
• Record Keeping:
  Maintaining accurate records of testing results and other relevant data.
• Quality Control:
  Assisting with quality control procedures to ensure materials meet project specifications.
• Communication:
  Communicating with supervisors and other personnel regarding testing results and any issues encountered.
• Safety Compliance:
  Following safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.
