We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for municipal park and site development projects throughout the Phoenix metro area. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day onsite activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
The ideal candidate brings strong civil/site work experience, thrives in a collaborative environment, and has a track record of successfully delivering public infrastructure or park improvement projects in the Southwest.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Field Leadership- Oversee all onsite construction activities from project start through closeout
- Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal crews
- Maintain a strong presence on-site to ensure efficient workflow and productivity
- Implement and manage daily work plans and short-interval schedules
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (3-week lookahead, weekly planning)
- Identify and proactively resolve scheduling conflicts or delays
- Coordinate inspections and ensure milestones are achieved on time
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, plans, and applicable codes
- Conduct regular inspections of work in place and enforce quality standards
- Manage punch lists and closeout documentation
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance at all times
- Conduct daily safety meetings ("tailgate talks") and jobsite audits
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in real time
- Monitor field productivity and material usage
- Collaborate with Project Manager to manage costs and change orders
- Minimize rework and avoid unnecessary expenses
- Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for clients, inspectors, and stakeholders
- Maintain clear communication with Project Managers and office staff
- Document daily jobsite activity via reports, photos, and logs
- Park construction and renovations
- Site development and grading
- Irrigation and landscaping installation
- Playgrounds, shade structures, and site amenities
- Utility coordination (water, sewer, electrical)
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial or civil construction
- Proven experience managing projects in the $2M–$4M range
- Strong knowledge of site work, grading, and public works construction
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and construction documents
- Experience working with municipalities and public agencies (preferred)
- Proficiency with scheduling tools and construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam)
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- High attention to detail and quality standards
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Primarily field-based in outdoor environments across the Phoenix area
- Exposure to heat, dust, and varying terrain typical of desert construction sites
- Standard construction work hours with occasional extended hours as needed
