Job SummaryManages day‑to‑day construction activities, including supervision of craft employees and subcontractors. Schedules field activities in coordination with the project schedule and is responsible for safety, production goals, quality control, and cost control. May supervise one or more craft groups and/or scopes of work. This position includes three “steps” (I, II and Sr.), which provide progression of skill and experience.
Key Responsibilities- Emphasize a culture of safety throughout the project and ensure the safety plan is executed relentlessly.
- Review shop drawings, design conflicts, RFI review and implementation, and manage quality control and safety responsibilities.
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities and ensure the quality management plan is followed.
- Select equipment, construction methods, and sequencing of operations.
- Conduct subcontractor meetings and identify risk management actions with project leaders.
- Implement LEAN planning and assess environmental control processes, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Enforce the project management plan (PMP) to ensure field activities align with policies and procedures.
- Control project costs daily, ensuring consistent deliverables and successful project execution.
- Develop and manage the craft field team, including setting performance expectations, providing feedback, determining training needs, and conducting on‑job training.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, material, and subcontract activities to meet the project schedule.
- Participate in business development and pre‑construction activities as directed.
- Prepare and maintain a detailed schedule for areas of responsibility and communicate changes to the project team.
- Review timesheets, quantity reporting, and daily costs; complete all daily reporting requirements promptly.
- Use available reports to manage project scope and contribute to the development of the monthly progress report.
Job Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience in construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and the ability to supervise employees and subcontractors.
- Wear personal protective equipment (e.g., steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest).
- Frequently reach above shoulder height and below waist; occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend.
- Use telephone or computer systems on a limited basis to communicate with customers or vendors.
- Comply with all safety standards and procedures; occasionally climb stairs or ladders.
- Frequently use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects; sometimes lift, push or pull.
- Sit, stand, or walk short distances for most of a shift.
