As a Kiewit Superintendent you will be responsible for a variety of field activities in order to execute construction work on our projects. In your first few years you can expect to learn and work on work plans, shop drawings, submittals, 5‑week schedules, craft supervision, and project documentation while gaining exposure to national projects that make a profound impact on communities.
DistrictOverview
Kiewit Southwest District specializes in heavy civil, transportation and water projects. It operates primarily in Arizona, Idaho, Nevada and Utah, with projects ranging from highways and bridges to runways, terminals, transit systems, power plants, water treatment facilities, dams, canals, wastewater treatment plants and tunnels.
LocationThis position will be based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Some travel to remote sites may be required.
Responsibilities- Provide supervisory direction of craft workers through the foreman, managing performance of productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence.
- Liaison between field engineering and craft to ensure compliance of construction drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate and interface effectively with other superintendents, subcontractors, Kiewit staff and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
- Resolve employee conflicts, grievances and scheduling difficulties, informing project management as appropriate.
- Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities and equipment requirements.
- Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including safety, attendance and workplace behavior standards as reflected in the Company’s non‑harassment and nondiscrimination policies.
- 5+ years’ work experience in the construction industry, with at least 3+ years in a supervisory role overseeing heavy civil activities.
- Previous knowledge/experience in heavy civil construction required (e.g., earthwork, underground and concrete).
- Advanced knowledge of construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and related documents.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance.
- Highly motivated, with a passion for excellence and initiative.
