Dirt Estimator | Heavy Civil Earthwork & Mass Excavation

The Opportunity

We are actively seeking an experienced Dirt Estimator to support large‑scale heavy civil projects throughout Arizona. This role will focus on mass grading, excavation, site development, and underground utility opportunities while working alongside an experienced estimating and operations team.

What You Bring
  • 5+ years of estimating experience in Heavy Civil Construction
  • Strong background in earthwork, excavation, grading, and underground utilities
  • Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and production-based estimates
  • ADOT and Arizona public works experience preferred
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid preferred
  • AGTEK experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience is a plus
  • Negotiated project experience and technical writing skills preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates for mass excavation, grading, site development, and underground utility projects
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze plans, specifications, and geotechnical information
  • Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor pricing
  • Collaborate with operations teams to validate production assumptions and construction approaches
  • Evaluate project risks and opportunities during the bidding process
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners
  • Support proposal development and bid submissions
  • Participate in preconstruction planning and project handoff activities
