Position:
Project Manager/Estimator – Phoenix, AZ
Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager/Estimator with civil construction experience to join our team at our Phoenix, AZ office.
Estimator Responsibilities- Follow estimating procedures.
- Bid selection.
- Work with the estimate team.
- Develop and meet estimate schedule.
- Assemble estimates.
- Estimate review.
- Bid delivery and follow‑up.
- Aggressively market new and existing clients.
- Find new project bidding opportunities from private owners, engineers, municipalities, etc.
- Maintain project involvement through the building phase from pre‑construction to closeout.
- Work with Heavy Job and Heavy Bid teams.
- Review costs, quality daily; quantities and pictures.
- Coordinate schedules, labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, suppliers with Superintendents.
- Inform General Superintendents and Field Operations Manager of significant budget issues and quality failures.
- Create and maintain weekly schedules to ensure budget management and tracking.
- Manage change control: review, negotiate, recommend change orders; conduct delay analysis; enforce all key project documents.
- Control Extra Work Orders and ensure they are signed before work starts.
- Document control and file electronic copies of all documentation.
- Procure and file permits, ROW, street cuts, fire lines, domestic service, etc.
- Address project issues (schedule, cost, quality).
- Review percent complete with finance.
- Invoice approval and tracking.
- Project updates via weekly meetings or daily morning recap.
- Experience with underground utilities, earthwork, roadway reconstruction, and civil construction.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, HCSS. - Superior customer service skills.
- Excellent organization and planning.
- Effective communication and management of subcontractors.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum high‑school diploma or GED.
- Five or more years of experience with civil and/or heavy highway construction.
