Superintendent – Roadway Earthwork & Urban Reconstruction
Looking for a Superintendent who has roadway earthwork experience and urban reconstruction experience. Must have experience with large (e.g., 70 million) roadway projects, including grading, sub‑grading, prep of long strips, excavation, etc.
Responsibilities- Understand, enforce, and carry out Safety Policies.
- Create Job Hazard Analysis for assigned tasks and perform safety inspections.
- Read and understand plans, specifications and local building codes.
- Schedule and document all required inspections, quality testing, or other compliance requirements.
- Comply with Dust Control, SWPPP, and environmental requirements.
- Complete daily reports including employee hours, quantities completed, and daily diary.
- Read and understand project baseline schedules and generate three‑week construction schedules weekly.
- Schedule and order materials, inspections, equipment and workforce to meet project schedules, productions and specifications.
- Directly supervise jobsite crews to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to construction schedules.
- Confers with and directs personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
- Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job including basic understanding of equipment limits and design purposes.
- Manage all day‑to‑day operations on the project and keep the project management team apprised.
- A minimum of 10 years of roadway superintendent or foreperson work experience leading heavy equipment crews (e.g., grader, trackhoe, backhoe, loader, crane, etc.).
- A minimum of 10 years of work experience and understanding of all phases of roadway/highway construction.
- A minimum of 10 years of roadway, earthwork, road winding type projects.
- A minimum of 10 years of DOT roadway projects.
- Education – four or more years of related experience and/or training; or a bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
