Precon Engineer

DPR Construction seeks a Junior Estimator with at least two years of commercial construction experience to support negotiated commercial projects in our core markets.

• Prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade‑specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages.
• Prepare and update vendor databases; contact suppliers and vendors to discuss requests and deadlines.
• Handle subcontractor requests and prepare time‑sensitive materials.
• Coordinate team activities from bid to proposal.
• Provide consistent customer service to subcontractors and vendors.
• Prepare detailed estimate updates as design evolves, including variance summaries.
• Write and negotiate subcontracts.
• Participate in Value Engineering sessions with the project and design teams.
• Prepare conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic or feasibility documentation (preferred).
• Lead the presentation of cost and budget information to clients or owners.

• 2+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator, preferably within DPR’s core market projects.
• Experience with RFP responses and formal project presentations.
• Strong knowledge of unit costs and factors affecting construction cost.
• Ability to prepare and negotiate subcontracts.
• Familiarity with conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic or feasibility levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Prolog, Primavera, and estimating software such as OnScreen Takeoff.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Strong work ethic, detail orientation, “can‑do” attitude, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to understand and navigate architectural and structural drawings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
